I’ve been right where you are. I get it. I was married for 16 years to my ex-husband, and together we have three beautiful children. When I decided to get a divorce, I understood he was going to be in my life forever. I needed him to accept the divorce and to become a co-parent with me.
An angry ex-husband does not create a happy life. I needed him to be happy, so I could be happy.
I’ll admit, telling my husband I wanted a divorce was probably the scariest time of my life. I didn’t know what would happen next. I knew my marriage had to end, but I also knew we had to transform our relationship to maintain a united and robust foundation for our children.
I just wanted to divorce my husband, NOT the father of my children. I wanted to be happy.
